Program Case Studies

The Sufficiency Thinking in Sustainable Development program has been designed to showcase the SEP and how it has been implemented in different parts of Thai society.

Wat Don Sai School

Wat Don Sai School, one of 121 Sufficiency Education Learning Centers (SELCs), is an upcountry primary school of 198 students and 9 teachers. Facing issues such as limited budget and resources and a decline in student numbers for schools in surrounding areas, the school has used SEP to raise their quality to that of schools in towns. Through an open-door management style, strong community participation and continuous school improvement, Wat Don Sai produces responsible students, equipped with life and occupational skills. Desired students’ character traits are cultivated through experiential and reflective learning in classrooms and extra-curricular activities and through enabling school environment. Enrollments have since increased, while other schools facing a decline due to the population experiencing a low birth rate. Wat Don Sai school has been accredited the Sufficiency School status in 2010, and the Sufficiency Education Learning Centers (SELCs) status in 2016.
