Sufficiency Thinking in Sustainable Development

Sufficiency Thinking in Sustainable Development (STiSD) is a high-quality training program centred on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) bestowed upon the Thai people by His Late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Sufficiency Economy Living Cases
The chapters within this book offer case examples written by researchers who have had first-hand experience studying the implementation of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in Thailand. They explain how core principles of this development approach have been applied in different sectors of the Thai social economy and elaborate on the results. I believe that readers from other developing societies will find this volume from Thailand particularly relevant since sustainability challenges often impact them more severely. Readers from economically developed societies may find that approaches described in the book challenge their assumptions, leading to new thinking about what is possible. In sum, I am confident that readers will have much to gain by exploring ideas presented in this volume.
Thailand's Sustainable Business Guide
The role of the private sector in driving sustainable development is indisputable. Indeed, the impact and influence of the business world is far-reaching, and it is the private sector that stands to lose if it fails to repond to the sustainability challenges facing them and the world at large. Thailand's Sustainable Business Guide looks critically at how Thai businesses of all sizes are taking action: by innovating solutions to complex challenges, by being role models for transformative change, by learning from their experiences, and by assuming a more holistic view of long-term growth.
A Call to Action - Thailand and The Sustainable Development Goals
This timely and highly relevant volume takes an in depth look at how Thailand is positioned to achieve the ambitious 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development launched by the United Nations in 2016. The agenda’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which the UN describes as “a call for action to change our world,” resonate strongly in Thailand, where despite vast progress and economic development over recent decades many significant challenges still remain.
Sufficiency Thinking: Thailand's gift to an unsustainable world
The first systematic account of the powerful decision-making framework which is being applied across all areas of life in Thailand to build a fair, resilient and sustainable economy and society.

The Thai model of sufficiency thinking aims to transform the mindset of a whole population to achieve the seemingly impossible: enriching everyone's lives in a truly sustainable way.
